The Monte Cinto (2706 m)

The highest summit of Corsica and the most experienced! Warning it is high mountain, so be very careful because bad weather can occur very rapidly and the peaks are often covered with a thick fog! If, on the southern slope snow disappears very quickly, it is not the same for the north side where it is not unusual to find still snowfields until midsummer.

- Duration: 4 to 6 hours up and 2 to 3 hours down to an elevation of 1300 to 1710 meters from the north, and 1 500 meters from the south.

- Level of difficulty: easy enough for the south face.

- Materials: map (IGN 1 / 25 000, 41.50 E and 42.50 W), compass and altimeter are recommended even crampons and ice axes as the snow.

- Route: From Calacuccia take direction from the village of Lozzi (1 040 m), then walk to the sheepfold Cesta, the ercu to Lake Cinto. From there, head towards the door of the scree, then right on Monte Cinto at 2 706 meters.
